Rewriting titles means changing the name of a book, article, video, or webpage to make it better. People usually rewrite titles to grab attention, fix grammar, or help search engines find their work.

Depending on your goal, rewriting titles usually falls into three major categories. 1. Rewriting for Search Engines (SEO)

When you write for the internet, search engines like Google look at your title. If your title is boring or does not use the right words, people will not click it. In fact, Google often rewrites your titles automatically if they think they can make them better for users! To rewrite a title for search engines: Add keywords: Put the main topic words near the front.

Keep it short: Try to keep it under 60 characters so it does not get cut off.

Show the benefit: Tell the reader exactly what they will get. Example Before: Blog Post 3 Example After: 5 Easy Steps to Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies 2. Rewriting for Grammar and Style

Sometimes you need to rewrite a title just to fix the capitalization. This is called using “Title Case”. When rewriting for grammar:

Capitalize big words: Always capitalize nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.

Capitalize the ends: Always capitalize the very first and very last word.

Keep small words lowercase: Do not capitalize short words like a, an, the, and, or of if they are in the middle of the title. Example Before: how to catch a big fish in the lake Example After: How to Catch a Big Fish in the Lake 3. Rewriting for Creative Writing
